…spiral into repetition. Welcome to my latest obsession. Spiral this one does; I can’t remember the last time a song so lent itself to looping as the 5:26 of “Vanessa” by Grimes. Things she is good for:
1. An accidental prescription painkiller daze. Especially if you are having a bit of an…episode. Try getting way too tangled in your sheets and blankets (preferably to the point at which you are like, “Really? I am comically unable to get up right now”), sighing vaguely and reaching disaffectedly for a Perrier.
2. Walking very far from a bar to your home in swirling wind and rain. Taking sick pleasure in not reaching for your umbrella.
3. Creepy dancing!
4. Some kind of cult ritual, done by moonlight involving yourself, some elfin, androgynous people, and perhaps feathers, crushed rose petals and like, a blood oath or something. [Disclaimer: haven't actually tried this one; might not be that great.]

#4 reminds me of Haruki Murakami’s 1Q84, which features cult rituals done by elfin, androgynous people under the light of not one, but two moons! I now know what the soundtrack for that book would sound like, thank you.
